Problem: Complying with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), which prohibits marketers from using automatic dialing equipment to place telephone calls to cellular phone lines.

Solution: Accudata’s Enhanced Carrier Type Lookup (CTL) service

CTL was developed to ensure that businesses can avoid placing marketing calls to cellular phones and assist companies in complying with federal regulations governing telephone marketing.

With a 10-digit telephone number provided to Accudata, it is determined if the carrier is a “landline” provider or a “wireless” provider. This service can be used by telemarketing companies or any company trying to gain or avoid wireless numbers.

Accudata’s CTL service provides the customer with the type of carrier that owns the telephone number with close to 100% accuracy. While other services may provide this information in monthly or weekly subscriptions, Accudata validates every 10-digit phone number at the time it is submitted with 24-hour fresh information, including ported numbers.

With the FCC rules earlier this year that allow landline phone numbers to be ported to cell phones, it is critical that every number is validated at the time of the call to help telemarketing companies avoid accidentally placing marketing phone calls to ported cell phones. Customers rely on Accudata for the most current and accurate information regarding a telephone number.

To further improve lead-generation service and better serve customers, Jumpstart Digital Marketing, Inc. had been manually “scrubbing” leads by turning them over to call centers or other agents for verification. Unfortunately, that process was expensive and time-consuming.

Jumpstart turned to Accudata to distinguish whether a phone number was a working number or not and even to match the names provided on the leads to a telephone number, increasing the quality of the leads without requiring them to spend as much on fixed costs and headcount. In addition, Jumpstart has dramatically increased efficiency and is now able to provide leads to their customers more quickly as the phone number information from Accudata is returned in real time.

Jumpstart believes Accudata’s services helped them decrease attrition with retail customers by 1 percent, resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in increased revenue this year and more than $1 million next year.
